This weekend retreat near the ocean, is in an area with a great tradition of duneside camping and seasonal cottages. The design intent was to build upon this tradition while providing a modern, tailored, weekend retreat. It coexists comfortably and treads lightly among these dunes. The structure is organized around a two story space, with a series of public, semi private, and private spaces with direct access to the outdoors. A louvered screen on the east provides morning shade and a convenient place to park beach cruisers and surfboards. Large wooden lift and slide doors, fumed oak floors and weathered wood decking which have a driftwood, weathered quality, and native dune vegetation further enhance this connection to the outdoors and landscape.
